Volkshochschule im Landkreis Cham e.V. (VHS Cham) is a registered, non-profit association specialised in lifelong learning education.
It provides guidance, counselling and vocational information to facilitate understanding and coping with mobility process, international and community development and social empowerment. Most of our training courses, seminars and special events focus on the acquisition of proper competencies and qualifications in order to assure our students a successful access to work on the international labour market. Our target groups are mostly young people, jobseekers, unemployed people, migrants or persons who want to change or obtain their qualifications.
The main focus is set on the health sector: Our state-approved vocational schools for Physiotherapy, Geriatric Nursing and Care for the Elderly offer job-oriented education for nursing personnel, physiotherapists, doctor’s assistants and carers in order to facilitate career opportunities and to adapt the students’ competencies to the standards and requirements of the European labour market.
VHS Cham is involved in programmes supported by the European Commission such as Leonardo da Vinci, Grundtvig, Transversal programmes, some of them also dedicated to the recognition of qualifications in the European context.
Winfried Ellwanger, Managing Director of VHS Cham, is one of the members of the German National Expert Team of ECVET.
Our association has a European-wide network of various partner institutions working together for a high quality education and full labour market integration.
